Julius "Nook" Siebersma, 80, Coal City, Illinois, formerly of the Sheldon area, died Sunday, September 10, at his home.

Services were Wednesday, September 13, at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City, Illinois, with the Reverend Larry Boutelle officiating. Burial was at Braceville Gardner Cemetery in Coal City, Illinois, under the direction of Ferrari Funeral Services in Coal City, Illinois.

Mr. Siebersma was born July 11, 1926, in Carnes, Iowa, he was the son of the late Steve and Hattie Siebersma. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army.

During his lifetime he worked in tractor sales, owned and operated Home Oil Company and drove a tank wagon delivering gas. He was a proud union teamster and worked for numerous construction companies, retiring from Moret Construction in 1988. In his earlier years he was on the church softball team in Sheldon, bowling league, volunteer fireman, and school bus driver in Sheldon, Iowa, and a lifelong member of the VFW.

Mr. Siebersma was a trustee of New Hope Presbyterian Church, active member in the church, was known for his kindness and great sense of humor, was probably best known around town as the Coal City Car Wash Man on South Broadway Street in Coal City. He took his duties very seriously.

His love for his family will live on forever. In the last year his two great-grandsons, Donovan Julius and Joshua brought him such joy. A special appreciation to Jean Orr and Linda Adams for all of their hard work and dedication.

He was loving father of Jean Orr, Rockdale, Jerry (Jackie) Siebersma, Rock Island, Linda (Tom) Adams, Wilmington; Bonnie (Mike) Purkey, Mazon, and Dennis (Diana) Siebersma, Coal City; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Lucy Wibben and Jody Borgman; one brother, Steve (Fern) Siebersma; one sister, Loretta Petersen; two sisters-in-law, Joan Siebersma and Arta Plender; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Anna Mae(VanderWilt) Siebersma; one sister, Jennie Vander Berg; and one brother, Cornie Siebersma.

Memorials may be directed to New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City, Illinois, the Care Bear Team, or to the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
