Elaine J. Sherman (Maassen) died on Tuesday, February 20, from complications of Parkinson disease.

She was born at Maurice High School and attended Central College in Pella and Northern Illinois University, receiving degrees in music and organ.

She married Robert Sherman on June 6, 1958. They made their home in Lombard, Illinois. He died of cancer on December 10, 1964.

Elaine taught music in schools for 30 years. She was a church organist for 25 years.

She is survived by daughters Deborah (Michael) Rodak and Sandra Sherman, as well as three grandchildren, Natasha Krefft at the University of Indiana, Stacy Ollech and Robert Rodak of Lombard, brother John Maassen of Orange City and sister Henrietta(Wallace) Muilenburg of Sioux Center.

Preceding her in death were her husband Robert, parents Mr. and Mrs. Teunis Maassen, brother Gerriet, sister Gertrude Eisma and Brother-in-law Burton Eisma.
