Robert L. Rosenboom, 71, of Boyden died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 8, at his home.

Funeral services were held on Saturday morning, August 12, at First Reformed Church of Boyden with Reverend Matthew Draffen officiating. Interment followed at Sheridan Township Cemetery of Boyden.

Visitation was held on Friday afternoon and evening, August 11, at First Reformed Church of Boyden, with the family present from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.

Robert L. Rosenboom was born July 22, 1935 to Raymond and Cora (Verrips) Rosenboom in Boyden. Robert attended school in Boyden and graduated from Boyden High School. He served his country in the Army and the National Guard.

On September 20, 1963, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Verdoorn in Sibley. The couple made their home on the family farm where Robert lived all his life.

Robert served as a church trustee for many years while he was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Boyden. He was presently a member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden.

He enjoyed farming and spending time camping and fishing. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his two children.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 42 years, Genevieve; three children, Kevin and Kayla Rosenboom of Boyden, David Rosenboom of Phoenix, Arizona, and Teresa Rosenboom of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren Nicholas and Morgan Rosenboom; brother-in-law Herb and Jean Veen of Sheldon; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Joel and Kathy Verdoorn of Sibley and Steve and Linda Verdoorn of Mooresville, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, brother Roy Rosenboom and sister Lois Veen.
