Rosetta “Rosie” Riedemann, 92, of Remsen, Iowa passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen. Rosie was born February 25, 1914 at rural Granville, Iowa , the daughter of Albert and Metha (Brinckmann) Meyer.

Rosie was raised in the Granville area and received her education in the rural school system. She then did domestic work in the Granville area. On May 29, 1935 she married Vernon Riedemann at Paullina, Iowa. They made their home near Granville where they were engaged in farming. They moved to rural Cherokee to farm in 1942, to rural Paullina in 1944 and in 1945 to a farm south of Remsen. In 1971 they retired from farming and moved into Remsen. Vernon died March 13, 1992. She had been a resident of Happy Siesta Health Care Center since September 6, 2006.

Funeral service time was 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 6, 2006 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen. Reverend Craig Miller officiated. Burial was at Remsen City Cemetery. Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen was entrusted with arrangements.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Wendell and Caryn, Richard and Mary; one daughter, Judy and her husband Robert Gotto all of Remsen; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Vera Dau of Sutherland, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Emily Meyer of Paullina, Iowa.

Rosie was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Paul WELCA; Post 3328 Ladies V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was an active community volunteer which included helping with meals on wheels and in transporting people to their appointments. She was named Remsen Citizen of the Year in 2002. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and doing word search puzzles.

Casket Bearers were Steven, Robert, Donald and Kevin Riedemann, Jeffery, Chad and Todd Gotto.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gordon; one sister, Mabel Dau and her husband Elvin; two brothers, Clarence Meyer and Herbert Meyer and his wife Leona; one brother-in-law.
