Died: September 25, 2001 Sioux Center, Iowa

Gertrude "Jo" Joan Riemersma, 62, of Sioux Center died Tues. Sept. 25, 2001 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Services were Thurs. at 1 p.m. at First Reformed church, Sioux Center, with the Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon.

Mrs. Riemersma was born to Henry and Hattie (Hector) Lamfers on Sept. 30, 1938, on the farm by Ashton. She married Art Riemersma on May 28, 1958, in the Ashton Presbyterian Church. They lived in Sheldon and Matlock before moving to Sioux Center in 1965. She worked at Bartels Jewerly in Sheldon for two years and K-Products for 23 years.

She was a member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crafts and baking. Many senior citizens looked forward to her visits. The couple enjoyed attending quartet concerts and cherished the time spent with their children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Patricia Riemersma of Minneapolis, MN. son Glenn and Georgann and two grandchildren of Bloomington, MN; a sister, Helen Buysman of Sheldon; and a brother, Fred Lamfers of Sioux Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Benny Lamfers; and a sister, Gladys Dykstra.
