Died: December 13, 1996 Rock Valley, IowaWalter Post 84, of Sioux Center died Friday, Dec. 13, at the Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday Dec. 16, at Carmel Reformed Church in Carmel with Rev. Brad Langstraat officiating. Burial was in the Carmel Cemetery.
Post was born Nov. 13, 1912 on a farm near Rock Valley to Dick and Dena (Vugteveen) Post. He completed eighth grade. He married Henrietta Wesselink on June 9, 1938, in Rock Valley. He farmed near Ireton and Sioux Center, retiring in 1973. He worked at Hope Haven until 1992.
He was a member of Carmel Reformed Church, where he served as deacon and elder. He also served on the Hope Haven, Sioux Center Community Hospital and Cooperative Gas and Oil boards.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives,k, Darwin and Lorraine and Warren and Fonda, all of Sioux Center; two daughters and their husbands, Deanne and Richard Van Zee of Rock Valley, and Faith and Dick Franken of Sioux Center; 15 grandchildren; and a few great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Gertrude Westra; and two grandchildren.
