Mrs. Eleanor Meade, many years a resident of the area died at her home at Alexandria, S.D. March 28, 1911. Eleanor Brady was born in Chenango County, New York, April 1, 1838. At the age of 16, she moved with her parents to Jones County, Iowa. In 1860 she was married to Ira Meade who died in 1888. Four children were born to them. Mrs. Nettie Coleman of Hawarden; Mrs. Ida Wallace of Sioux City, Miss Emma Meade and Delbert Meade of Alexandria of whom all were at her bedside at the time of her death. In 1889 soon after her husband's death, she moved her children to Union County, where she resided until 1901, when she moved onto a farm in Hanson County, S.D. with her two children. Her body was taken to Martellle, Iowa to be placed at final rest beside the grave of her husband in beautiful Norwidge Cemetery. She was a member of the Baptist Church for over fifty years and was a loving mother and a kind friend and was ever greatly interested in all good works.
