Died: 1957Funeral services will be held at the Christian Reformed Church at Ireton at 1:30 P.M. today (Thursday) for Mrs. Herman Schiebout, 64, long-time resident of Maurice vicinity, who died Monday evening at the Orange City Hospital where she had been confined for 16 days with injuries sustained November 2 in an auto collision one mile north of Orange City.
A blood clot was thought to have been the cause of death. She had suffered chest injuries in the collision.
Mrs. Jennie Schiebout was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Herman. They were behind a car driven by Lawrence Van Roekel, also of Maurice. Van Roekel was approaching the corner on the blacktop road one mile north of Orange City when he signaled for a left turn. The Schiebout car veered to the left and was struck on the right side by a 1957 Ford coming from the North, which was driven by Dwayne Plender, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Plender.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend John B. Hulst and burial will be made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sioux Center is in charge of arrangements.
Pall Bearers will be John Ekdom, Henry Kromendyk, Henry Netten, Dick Feenstra,m Fred Van Schepen, James Geels.
Mrs. Jennie Schiebout was born September 18, 1893, at Harrison, South Dakota. She was married to Herman Schiebout January 27, 1915.
Survivors besides her husband include seven sons, Ferdinand of Maurice, Henry of Ireton, Benjamin of Alton, Chris of Maurice, Abe of Ireton, Herman of Jasper, Minnesota, and William of Maurice; five daughters, Johanna (Mrs. Peter Sinkey) of Ireton, Ann (Mrs. Arie Van Bruggen) of Ireton, Geraldine (Mrs. Ted Van Voorst) of Ireton, Lena (Mrs. Clarence Vander Laan) of Orange City, Adranna, (Mrs. Eugene) Ruisch of Orange City, four brothers, Neal De Groot of Edgerton, Minnesota, John De Groot of California, Herman De Groot of Orange City and William De Groot of Sioux Center; two sisters, Lena (Mrs. Chris Schiebout) of Sioux Center and Gertrude (Mrs. Arthur Nelson) of Omaha; and 32 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
