Peter Hopp Of Ireton Succumbs To Heart Attack

Ireton, la.—Peter Hopp, 48, a life long resident of Ireton, died at his home Tuesday afternoon of last week, following a heart attack. He suffered a heart attack a year and a half ago and had never fully recovered.

His sons, James, 13, and Marvin, 6, returned from school following the Christmas program and gave their father some candy. At that time Mr. Hopp seemed as well as usual and the boys went after the mail. Upon their return they found their father dead in his chair.

The boys called their mother who was employed at the Panska Nursing home in Hawarden and told her that their daddy was dead. Mrs. Hopp was nearly prostrated from shock.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Christian Reformed church, Rev. Russell Esveld officiating. A quartet, composed of Roy De Boer, Marvin De Boer, Gerald De Boer and Marion Ten Napel, sang "Heartaches" and "Beyond the Sunset." Pall bearers were Julius Barents, Henry Walraven, George Hoekstra, Frank Vander Feen, Cornie Vanden Berg and Cornie Den Ouden. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Peter James Hopp, son of Gertrude and Jacob Hopp, was born May 7, 1905, at Orange City. He moved to Ireton in infancy with his parents. He was married April 28, 1934, to Miss Marie Hoekstra of Maurice. To this union were born three children.

Besides the widow, he is survived by three children, Gertrude Marine, 16, Peter James, 13, and Marvin Jay, 6, and four sisters; Mrs. Walter Otten of Foreston Minn., Mrs. Lester De Soto of Oak Park, Minnesota, Mrs. Dick Dirksen of Everly, Iowa, and Mrs. Peter Santema of Ireton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother William.
