Wiliam Wagenaar died at the home of E. Dykstra four miles west of Orange City December thirtieth from a gunshot wound in the chest accidentally inflicted upon himself.

He was an adopted son of the Dykstras and was aged about eighteen years. He was out hunting rabbits with John and Edward Wassenaar and in taking a loaded shotgun from a sled hastily in order to make a shot he accidentally tripped the hammers of the gun and received the charge of shot through his right lung.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Heemstra from the First Reformed church in Orange City on January second 1908.
