Death under any circumstances is a sad affliction to the bereaved ones, but when it comes to the home where little ones are left motherless and at that period when life should be the sweetest and happiest, the blow seems doubly sad. Such is the sorrow which befell C. E. Chenoweth and his four little daughters, of Eagle Grove, when on Saturday last his helpmate for life was beckoned by the hand of the all wise creator.

Kittie O'Connor was born Aug. 29, 1870 at Maquoketa, Iowa. She was united in marriage June 27, 1898, to Mr. C. E. Chenoweth at Eagle Grove, in which city they have since made their home. Four winsome daughters were born to them, the eldest nearly eight years of age and the youngest only about eight months old. The body was brought to Hawarden Monday for interment. A special coach was furnished by the Northwestern company for the funeral party and about twenty-five members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Ladies Auxiliary came from Eagle Grove to witness the last sad rites. The deepest sympathy of many friends goes out to the bereaved husband and motherless children in their hour of sorrow.
