Rock Valley - John Coert died in the Methodist Hospital at Sioux City on Tuesday morning, July 18 following an operation Wednesday, July 12th. His wife was at his bedside when he went.

John Coert was born in The Netherlands, August 24, 1884 and came to this country at the age of 24 in 1908. He farmed in this locality for a period of six years and then went back to Holland for a visit. He went into the grain business upon his return and operated the Coert Elevator until he was forced to retire in 1944 by ill health.

He married Miss Mary Hansen on December 6, 1928 of Coleridge, Nebraska. They have made their home here since that time. Mr. & Mrs. Coert made a trip together to his home in Holland in 1947.

He leaves to survive him his widow Mrs. Mary Coert, one sister, one niece and one nephew, who are living in Holland.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 and at the First Reformed Church with Rev. H. C. Van Deelen conducting the services. Interment was made in Valley View Cemetery.
