Following her schooling, she worked hard to provide for her family. She worked as a switchboard operator for St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City. Later she went to work for I.B.P. in Dakota City, Nebraska.

She was united in marriage to Jay Miller in 1998. They made their home in Akron. After working at I.B.P, she went to work for Coilcraft in Hawarden until retiring in February of 2013.

Through the years, Sharon enjoyed reading, occasionally trying her luck at the slots, going to the movies with Heather, and passing family traditions and recipes to Carri. But most of all, she loved the times she spent with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Jay of Akron; her daughter: Carri (Bruce) Koele, and their children Tyler (special friend, Tara Filler), Hannah, Lexi, and Brooke, all of Akron; her daughter: Heather Franken (special friend, Mike Shanahan) of Sioux City, IA; her sister: Linda (Steve) Berge of Sioux City; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
