Born: April 23, 1921, Brent, Ala.
Died: March 24, 2001 Rock Valley, Iowa

Lois Van Den Berg, 79 of Doon, died Sat. March 24, 2001 at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley, Iowa

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wed. at First Reformed Church in Doon with the Rev. Don Baker officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Wed. at Hillside Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Van Den Berg was born April 23, 1921 in Brent, Ala. the daughter of Ottie and Adeal (Fulford) Whaley. She married Clarence Van Den Berg on July 13, 1947, in Kileen, TX. They moved to Sioux Center, Iowa before moving to Doon in 1956, where they opened Doon Feed and Produce and later became part owners of Doon Elevator Company.

She was active in school, community and church activities. She was a member of First Reformed Church where she taught Sunday School, vacation Bible School and catechism.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, Gary and Lori Van Den Berg, and Jeff and Laurel Van Den Berg, all of Sioux Falls; two grandchildren; four sisters, Polly Oakley, Mert and her husband, Joe Peeks, all of Humboldt, Tenn. Minnie and her husband Ed Brown of Randolph, Ala. and Carolyn and her husband, Gerald Smitherman of Birmingham, Ala.
