Services held for Mrs. Yoder

Lula F. Yoder, 97, of Tracy, died Wednesday, May 19 at the Tracy Municipal Hospital, and services were Friday, May 21 from the Tracy Lutheran Church.

She was born June 9, 1878 at McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania and migrated with her parents to the Dakotas in the 1880's. From there the family later traveled to Minnesota by covered wagon and settled in Gales Township of Redwood County.

In 1900 she was married to Christin Nelson at Redwood Falls. Mr. Nelson died in 1903 and 13 years later she was married to Walter Yoder.

Survivors include children Mrs. Guy (Nellie) Van Meveren, Tracy; Mrs. Arthur (Eileen) Nybo, Tracy; Mrs. Evan (Margaret) Jones, Tekamah, Neb.) Mrs. Jerome (Lula) Gouguie, Ivanhoe; 22 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, 40 great great grandchildren.

Burial was at the Lakeside Cemetery in Arco with arrangements by the Butson Funeral Home of Tracy.

Contributor's Note: Lula's parents were Francis and Mazy (Smith) Knable. Her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Nybo was Irene, not Eileen as in the above obit. Lula's children by Christian Nelson were Nellie Nelson (wife of Guy Van Meveren and after his death, Evan Jones), Irene Nelson (wife of Earl Van Meveren and after his death, Arthur Nybo) and Francis Christian (Shorty) Nelson, who was from Sioux County, IA, preceded her in death. Her children with Mr. Yoder were Margaret Yoder (first wife of Evan Jones) and Lula Yoder, wife of Jerome Gauquie. Guy and Earl Van Meveren were sons of Arie and Elizabeth (Dexter) Van Meveren. I will post other family obits as I can to help clarify the family links.
