Frank Sinkey, 74, of Ireton died Friday, July 11, in a Sioux City Hospital after a long illness.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 15, in the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton. The Rev. Marvin Van Der Vliet officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Sinkey was born June 6, 1912, rural Ireton. He married Clara Schaap January 3, 1935, at Leota, Minnesota. The couple farmed in the Ireton area until 1973 when they retired and moved to Ireton.

Sinkey was a past elder, deacon and Sunday School superintendent of Christian Reformed Church, past board member of Dordt College, Ireton Christian School, Ireton Farmer’s Co-op Elevator and Co-op Gas and oil Company of Ireton and Sioux Center.

Survivors include his wife, Cara; two sons, Vernon of Springfield, Missouri, and Roger of Rock Island, Illinois; two daughters, Myrtle Smits of Penfield, New York, and Ruth Zwart of Hawarden; two brothers, Jake of Ireton and Bill of Sheldon; three sisters, Jo Riepma of Sioux Center, Bertha Peters of Orange City and Minnie Eisma of Ireton; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild
