Mrs. Syne Gerritsma Succumbs
Funeral is 1:30 here Saturday
Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church here at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 24, for Mrs. Syne (Gertrude) Gerritsma, 76, a resident of the Sioux Center area most of her life, who died Tuesday evening at the Sioux Center nursing home where she had lived the past 18 months.
Death was attributed to pneumonia.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. B. J. Haan and burial will be made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of Co-operative Funeral Service of Sioux Center.
Mrs. Gerritsma was born in Friesland on July 9, 1885, and came to the United States with her parents at the age of nine. The family settled in Sioux Center and she resided here the remainder of her life. She was married to Syne Gerritsma here March 22, 1915 and to this union one son and three daughters were born, all of whom survive her.
Mr. Gerritsma, who worked for many years at the Farmers Co-op Society elevator, died January 1, 1950.
Survivors include her son, Ernest of Sioux Center, and daughters, Kathryn (Mrs. Wm. Sybesma) of Sioux Center, Ida (Mrs. Henry Bilthouse) of Naperville, Ill., and Ann ( Mrs. Al Hoekstra) Of Elmhurst, Ill. There are 19 grandchildren.
