One of the saddest incidents that occurred in our community was the death last Sunday afternoon, at her father’s home, of Olive Finch-Bush, a young wife of Fred C. Bush of Garner, Iowa, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Finch of this city. Mrs. Bush with her baby daughter, early in the winter left her own cozy little home-nest where only a few short years ago she had gone a happy bride, to be at the bedside of her mother whose failing health seemed to demand her presence and loving care. A few weeks ago she was stricken with a complication of Meningitis and typhoid fever, and in spite of all the nursing and care could suggest, she, who had everything to live for, passed away leaving an adoring young husband and a baby girl to young to know her irreparable loss.

It is hard to see the silver lining to many clouds, yet we have to remember that the Father’s love is ever around us and over us and that he sends no greater sorrows than we can bear. Though this loving wife and daughter has left a desolate home and many saddened hearts she has only gone a little while ahead to point the way.

Rev. Burling conducted the funeral services from the home Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock, and the flower-strewn casket which held all that was mortal of Olive Finch-Bush, was committed to the grave in Grace Hill Cemetery.

The whole community bow their head in sympathy and sorrow for this stricken father, mother, brothers and sisters and desolate young husband in their bereavement.

Olive Finch-Bush was born 3 miles from the present town of Rock Valley October 9, 1876, and was 25 years, 4 months and 11 days old at the time of her death. She came from Orange City with her parents in November 1897, and resided here until her marriage to Fred Clarence Bush, June 28, 1899, and they have since resided at Garner, Iowa. A daughter, Dorothy, was born to them March 19, 1901.
