Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 P.M. from the Newkirk Reformed Church for Peter John Siermonsma, 74, who passed away early Christmas morning at the Grossman Hospital in Orange City.

Rev. S. Skipper officiated and burial was made in Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg’s of Sioux Center.

Mr. Siemonsma was born in the Netherlands and came to America at the age of nine. He settled near Rock Valley with his parents. On February 21, 1923, he was united in marriage to Gertrude G. Wittebrood, and spent their entire life in Newkirk, except for one year spent at Inwood and one year at Rock Valley. Mr. Siemonsma was a janitor of the Newkirk Church for over 34 years and also served 28 years as janitor of the Newkirk School.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Gertrude; two sons, Lawrence of Sheldon and Jake of Alton, and three grandsons. A sister, Mrs. John Sas, Sr. of Hull, and a brother, William J. of Inwood, also survive.

One brother, Simon, preceded him in death at Rock Valley in 1928 and two sisters died in infancy in the Netherlands.
