Jacob Rus, 96, of Sioux Center died Tuesday, July 23, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Services were at 11:30 A.M. Friday July 26, at the Netherlands Reformed Church in Corsica, South Dakota, with the Rev. John den Hoed officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery, Corsica.

Rus was born January 24, 1900, in Pella, the son of Jacob and Cornelia (Lughtighied) Rus. He married Fannie Zomer February 10, 1921. The couple farmed near Corsica. She preceded him in death. On January 26, 1966, he married Jennie Zomer. She died January 2, 1994. He lived with his son, Marvin, in Sioux Center the last ½ years.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Cornie and Katherine and George and Jennie, all of Rock Valley, and Marvin and Clazina of Sioux Center; stepchildren, Hermina Van Roekel and Alvin Zomer, both of Sioux Center, Hattie Van Dyke and Fran Overweg of Grand Rapid, Michigan, Jean Blom and Chet Zomer of Corsica, Leen Walma of Stickney, South Dakota, Nina Koedam of Doon and John Zomer of Larchwood; a brother and his wife, Marinus and Marjorie of Sioux Center; sister-in-law, Gertie Rus and Helena Zomer of Rock Valley and Dena Rus of Corsica; four step-sisters-in-law, Eva Bruns, Jane Van Dyde, Fannie and Marie Kaptain; 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; 69 stepgrandchildren; 152 stepgreat-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Josie Van Roekel; an infant son; five brothers, Lane, Art, John, Neal and Bert; two sisters, Nellie Davelaar and Liz Van Den Brink; and son-in-law, Jake Van Roekel.
