Died: December 5, 2008 Coffeyville, Kansas

Alexandra Marie Bergan, 19, daughter of Marc and Kim (Ver Hoef) Bergan of Baldwin City, Kansas, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 5, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas.

A prayer service was Tues. at 10 a.m. at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with the Rev. Van Rathbun officiating. Interment was in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

"Alex" was born Sept. 5, 1989 in Sioux Center, the daughter of Marc and Kim (Ver Hoef) Bergan. She attended Kindergarten through first grade in Sioux Center, second through sixth grade in Madison, S.D., and seventh through 12 grade in Baldwin City, KS, graduating from Baldwin High School in 2008. She played volleyball all four years at Baldwin High School and was the cheerleading captain for the cheerleading squad during high school. She was editor of the yearbook, played basketball for three years during high school and was a lifeguard at the local pool for two years. She was currently attending Coffeyville Community College on a volleyball scholarship and was the starting setter for her team.

She will be remembered for her love of her family and friends. Her grandparents meant everything to her and she was her mother's sunshine. She loved her sisters and her family and would have done anything for her friends, even if it meant her getting in a bit of trouble. She enjoyed playing volleyball, texting her friends, on her phone and attending Coffeyville Community College.

Survivors include her parents, Marc and Kim Bergan of Balwin City; two sisters, Sydney and Avery Bergan, both of Baldwin City; grandparents, Bruce and Marty Ver Hoef of Sioux Center, and Duane and Cheryl Bergan of Decorah; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
