Kathryn Grooters passed away at the age of 91. On March 21, 1907, Kathryn was born in Sioux Center, Iowa, to Hattie and Dick Juffer. She was united in marriage to Gilbert L. Grooters on November 8, 1929, in George, Iowa. Gilbert preceded her in death on July 25, 1963, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Three children survive; two daughters, Phyllis and her husband Harry Hansen of Marshalltown, Iowa; Marilyn and her husband Glenn Hagerty of Allison, Iowa; and one son, Lyle E. Grooter of Bella Vista, Arkansas; also seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, six brothers and five sisters (two in infancy).

Kathryn taught country school in Sioux County, married and moved to live in Cedar Falls, Iowa. After the death of her husband, she became a house mother at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. Upon retirement, she lived in Florida and Arkansas before moving back to Iowa due to ill health. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a church member wherever she lived.

Kathryn’s life was full. Now she was taken His hand and found everlasting peace.

Funeral service were at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 10, 1998. The Rev. John Goertz officiated and the Vander Ploeg Chapel, Boyden, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Interment was at Sheridan Township Cemetery, Boyden, Iowa.
