Marvin J. Grotenhuis, 84, of East Moline, Illinois, died September 1 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, Illinois. A private family service will take place at a later date.

Grotenhuis was born November 1, 1919, in Sioux Center, the son of Arent Jan and Pauline Stuurop Grotenhuis. He married Lila Taylor who preceded him in death in 1969. He later married Marcella Misfeldt who preceded him in death in 1995. He was an army pilot serving in World War II. He was a banker at Northwestern State Bank in Orange City.

He had been a member of First Evangelical Free Church and Village Bible Church, Hot Springs, Arkansas. He had also been a member of the Lions Club in Moline, Orange City and Hot Springs Village.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay (Dale) Kennon of East Moline; a son, Kirk (Terry) Grotenhuis of Kokomo, Indiana; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a stepson, Tom (Carol) Misfeldt of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Hendrine St. Claire, a brother, Wallace Grotenhuis, both of California.
