Sioux Center News of April 29, 1987

Dora Haarsma, 95, of Orange City died Saturday, April 25, in a hospital in Orange City. Services are at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 29, at American Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.

Born Dora Smits on February 14, 1892, in Sioux County, she married Dick P. Haarsma February 4, 1916, in Maurice. During most of their married life, they farmed in the Maurice - Orange City area, retiring to Orange City in 1948. For several years she was employed by De Vries Draperies, He died May 12,1966, at Orange City. She was a member of American Reformed Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Jo De Haan of Orange City, Ruth Schaap of Hayward, California, and Dorothy Reinders of Spirit Lake; two sons, Howard of Oakland, California, and Raymond of Holland, Minnesota; two brothers, Ted of Maurice and Marvin of Omaha; two sisters, Susan Youngbloed of Clark, South Dakota, and Elsie Medsker of Wahpeton, North Dakota; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two greatgreat- grandchildren.
