W.T. Beadle, 79, a pioneer of Garfield township, died Sat. Jan. 13 at his home. He had been in failing health more than two years.

Funeral services were held Wed. afternoon at the Congregational Church at Hudson with Rev. David Graham in charge.

He was a son of John and Jane Beadle and was born at Dubuque in 1874. At the age of 7 he moved with his parents to Garfield township and with the exception of two or three years, he spent the remainder of his life on that farm. In the early days their farm home was known as one of the landmarks between Sioux City and Sioux Falls.

He married Mattie Small of Le Mars March 14, 1901. To this union were born four sons, one of whom, Will, died in infancy. Survivors are the widow and three sons, Tomas Lockey and Charles James of Hudson and John Edwin of Detroit MI; one brother, George Beadle; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Beadle was a member of K. P. lodge, an active member on the township board many years and a member of the Congregational Church at Hudson and was serving as a deacon at his death. In the pioneer days he was a member of the Hudson band.
