Donald E. Brouwer 82, Sheldon, died Friday July 9, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon. Services were Monday July 12, at Sanborn Chr. Ref. Church with the Rev. Gary Dyk officiating. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Donald Brouwer son of Gerard and Bertha Boerhave Brouwer was born Jan 2, 1922, in the Hospers area. He lived his youth in the Archer and Sheldon area, where he received his education.

He married Wilhelmina 'Mike' Van Beek in Nov 13, 1943, in Bellflower CA. He served in the WS Army during WWII. They started farming northeast of Sheldon in 1946 and continued until 1987, when he retired. Mrs. Brouwer died Nov 6, 1983. He enjoyed working at Sheldon Livestock Sales for 25 years. He worked for 'the Boys' until the age of 79. He married Delores Bechler on Nov 16, 1996 in George.

He dearly loved spending time with his family, especial the vacations in Minnesota each summer. He was a member of Sanborn Chr. Ref. Church where he served as an elder. He also served on the board of Sanborn Chr. School. Ritter Elevator Board and Farmer Coop Oil Board and was ad trustee of Floyd Township. He was a member of Sheldon American Legion Post 145 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Brouwer of Sheldon as son Dennis and Bev Brouwer of Sheldon: two daughters, Darla and Dan Noteboom of Archer and Debra and Doug Vanden Hoek of Elkhorn NE, eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; a brother, Edwin and truday Brouwer of Sanborn ; a sister Rolene and Ray Breed of Omaha, CE and a special sister in law Jeanette Sterk of Sheldon, who was always there for the family.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Wilhelmina Brouwer and infant son, Gary Dennis Brouwer; and a special grandson in law Ryan Ennema.
