Bonnie De Vries, 69, Sun City, AZ, formerly of Rock Valley, died Saturday April 2, at her home following a year long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Services will be 1 p.m. today April 9, at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. today at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley.

Bonnie De Vries, daughter of Richard and Cornelia (Vande Vegte) Postma, was born August 20, 1935, in Rock Valley. She attended Rock Valley Christian School and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull. She worked at Foppes Pioneer Store from 1953-1955. She married John W. De Vries on June 3, 1955, at First Christian Reformed in Rock Valley. She then worked at Burkes Children's Shoppe in Sioux Falls, SD. until 1956, when they moved to California. She operated a food supplement business 1971-1994. They retired to Sun City, AZ. in 1995.

She attended First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley from 1935-1956. She was an active member of Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Artesia, CA. and West Valley Christian Fellowship in Sun City, AZ.

Survivors include her husband, John De Vries of Sun City; two sons, Steven and Karin De Vries of Artesia, CA; and James and Karen De Vries of Jenison, MN; two daughters, Brenda and Alan Witte of Kalamazoo, MI, and Cathleen and Paul Sorenson of Aloha, OR.; 13 living grandchildren; six brothers, Martin and Katie of Rock Valley, Clarence and Laura of Orange City, Donald and Lois of Rock Valley, Richard and Linda of Knoxville, Stanley and Sharon of Aloha, OR, Robert and Sherril of Knoxville; and four sisters, Henrietta and Dick Van Maanen of Rock Valley, Marian and Marvin Altena of Pipestone, MN, Shirley and Carl Vanden Schaaf of Pella, and Carol and VitoPuopolo of Alta Loma, CA.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Micholas Paul Sorensen, two brothers, Gerrit and Lawrence Postma; and a sister, Margaret Bolkema.
