Berniece Rozeboom, 84, of Sioux Center died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her residence.

Services were held on Friday, Jan. 18 at 1:30 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev, John Witvliet officiated. Burial was a tMemory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Berniece was born Sept. 8,1917, the daughter of Ben B. and Hattie (Ramaker) Mouw. She attended country school and high school, followed by 12 weeks of normal training to prepare her to teach school. She taught in rural schools. On Dec. 29, 1938 she married Ed H. Rozeboom. The couple farmed near Sioux Center their entire married life. Mrs. Rozeboom was a lifelong member of First Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, camping and spending time with her children and grandchildren. The couple also enjoyed many years of volunteering in various places, including Gary, MS, Rehoboth, New Mexico Indian School and Wycliffe Bible Translators. She learned the violin at an early age and enjoyed participating in the Northwest Iowa Orchestra.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Sandra and her husband Gary Draayer of Sioux Center, Mary and her husband Andy Ploegstra of New London, Minn., Beth Rozeboom of Minneapolis, LeAnne and her husband Stan Dibbet of Maurice and Geri and her husband Doug Van Holland of Sioxu City; a special family friend, Sheryle Kleweno; 13 grandchildren;12 great-grandchildren; four brothers and their wives, Lawrence and Dorothy, Harold and Marge, Pete and Freda and Orvin and Ernestine Mouw; a sister and her husband, Faye and Vern Huisman; and two sisters-in-law, Wilma Mouw and Ann Rozeboom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Steve and Calvin Mouw; a sister, Madeline Gesink; four brothers-in-law, William, Garrett and John Rozeboom and Gerrit Gesink; two sistersin-law, Elsie Rozeboom and Virginia Mouw; and three great-grandchildren, Calvin, Leah and Andrew De Groot.
