January 2, 1959 - June 17, 2014

Rock Valley, IA: Douglas G. Middle, 55, of Rock Valley died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley after a courageous fight with cancer for three and half years. A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 20, 2014 at First Reformed Church with Rev. Calvin Ver Mulm officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be until 4:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home and then continuing with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at First Reformed Church. Douglas Gene Middle was born January 2, 1959 in Canton, South Dakota to George and Katheron (Bakker) Middle. Doug attended and graduated in 1977 from Rock Valley High School. Doug attended Northwestern College for one year, Pipestone Tech for Meat Cutting and Waterloo Hawkeye Tech for Graphic Art Design. In 1993, he started working as a machinist at A&I Products until present.

Doug, being an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing and serving as a board member on the Sioux County Sportsmen Club. He also enjoyed riding his Harley. He was a man of many talents and was always willing to help others.

Doug is survived by his mother, Katheron Middle of Rock Valley; siblings, Linda (Conrad) Baker of Canton, SD, Kenneth (Donna) Middle of Muscatine, IA, Duane (Lynn) Middle of Rock Valley, IA, Judy (Greg) Ketcham of Sheldon, IA and Debra Middle of Sheldon, IA; 11 nephews and nieces; 12 great nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and close friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, George.
