Sioux Center News, December 27, 1956

Funeral services for Mrs. Silvia Goslinga of Sheldon, Iowa, who passed away Monday, December 26, with services at 1:00 o'clock at the home and 1:30 in the First Reformed church in Hospers, with Rev. A. Hellinga officiating.

Burial was in the Hospers cemetery with Vander Ploeg's Service in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers were: Darrell Vander Beek, David Vander Beek, Phil Vander Beek, Leo Eason, James Goslinga and Stewart Goslinga.

Mrs. Silvia Goslinga, nee Vander Beek, was born at Fair Oaks, Indiana on April 11, 1901. At the age of 11 she moved to Hospers with her parents. On February 15, 1922 she was united in marriage to John Goslinga at Hospers. To this union were born the following: Stewart of Sheldon; Elizabeth, who died February 19, 1936, at the age of 8 years; Clara (Mrs. Wilbert Van Gelder) of Remsen; John Jr. of Sheldon; Erwin, Sylvia and Betty at home. There are four grandchildren. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Agnes (Mrs. Ben Ver Hoef) of Moville, IA; Ira Vander Beek of Hollandale, MN; Gerrit of Bellflower, CA; and Frank of Sioux Center. She was preceded by her parents and one brother, Dan, and one sister, Susie.
