F.A.E. Goodroad of Canton, a former well known resident of this vicinity, passed away at his home last Thursday morning from heart trouble. Mr. Goodroad had been ill for some time and his daughter, Mrs. George Halsey of Cedar Rapids, had been with him.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Canton, Saturday afternoon and burial was there. Mr. & Mrs. W. E. Sedgwick of Hawarden and their daughter, Mrs. Clarence Carlson and daughter Jean, of Alcester went from here to the funeral.

F.A.E. Goodroad had just passed his 84th birthday. He lived on a farm southwest of Hawarden in Union County in the early days but moved to Canton more than 40 years ago. He was united in marriage with Nettie Wade and four children were born to this union. His wife died many years ago leaving him the responsibility to look after his children.

In 1906 he married again and his second wife died five or six years ago. Mr. Goodroad was engaged in the real estate business in Canton for many years. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. George Sedgwick and Mrs. William Kent of Des Moines; Mrs. George Halsey of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Ben Courtright of Eldorado, Kan. There are five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
