Funeral services for Jake De Vries, 25, who passed away at his home Monday afternoon are being held in the Christian Reformed Church on Thursday afternoon at one-thirty, Rev. R. Haan officiating.

Jacob De Vries, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph De Vries of Hull was born at Hospers, June 9, 1910. He attended Western Academy at Hull and graduated in 1927. He then attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. graduating ini 1931. He taught a rural school near Jubert, S.D. for the next two years and then went to Philadelphia where he attended Westminister Theological Seminary for about two and a one-half years having been forced to give up his studies 2 1/2 months ago because of nervous strain. He was working on a farm near Hull when he contracted pneumonia which with complications resulted in death after a week's illness.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him as he was a young man of sterling character and was much respected and admired by everyone. He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, and two sisters, Trina and Frieda, all residing in Hull.

(Ed. Note: We have known Jake De Vries since he was a high school boy. He was a student in our classes and impressed us as an able young man. Since then he lived up to the promise he showed. Our readers remember the articles he wrote for the News, while on a motor boat cruise down the Missouri River from Platte, S.D. to St. Louis, MO.)
