Peter W. Fonkert, 72, 0f Rural Route 1, Dawson, Minnesota, passes away at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minnesota after a short illness on Wednesday, June 8, 1988.

Services were held on Saturday, June 11, at 10 A.M. at Dawson Convenant Church with Rev. Bruce Thorson officiating. Interment was in the Dawson Convenant Cemetery, rural Dawson, Minnesota.

Peter W. Fonkert, son of Gerrit and Jenny (VerMaas) Fonkert, was born August 13, 1915 in Boyden.

He married Grace Beyer on February 7, 1939 at Sanborn. They farmed in O’Brien County from 1939 to 1957 when they moved to Dawson, Minnesota. He farmed from 1957 until the present in rural Dawson.

He was active in farm association groups and associated with the Convenant Church.

Survivors include his wife, Grace; sons: Gary and Nancy of Atwater, and Terry and Theresa of Dawson, Minnesota; a daughter, Janet and Kurt Gylling, Minneapolis, Minnesota and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
