Hiram A. Lansdowne, 84, formerly of Hawarden, Iowa, and most recently of Gayville, S.D., died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 30 at the home of his son, Hal, rural Gayville. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden with the Rev. W.M. Bloodworth officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. There were military graveside rites.
Mr. Lansdowne was born June 29, 1895, in Douglas County, Kan. He married Marie S. Smith June 30, 1928. She died in 1935. He farmed for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army in World War I from 1918 to 1919.
Survivors include two sons, Hal of Gayville and John of Ely, Ore., five grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John (Sarah) Ervin of Hawarden and Mrs. Mae Middleton of Parsons, Kan., and four brothers.
