Died: April 17, 1944 Sioux Center, Iowa

Mr. Ben Vande Berg passed away at his home at Sioux Center early Monday morning, April 17,1944 after a brief illness due to a heart attack which came about a week ago and a streptococcus infection of the face which set in the latter part of the week. He had reached the age of 67 years.

Mr. Vande Berg is survived by his wife, Alice, and five children, namely John, Gerrit and Wilmina (Mrs Art Vander Berg) all of Sioux Center, Harriet (Mrs. Lloyd Bolks) of Hull, and Mary (Mrs. John Colenbrander) also of Sioux Center. Also ten grandchildren and three brothers Gerrit Vande Berg of Orange City and John Vande Berg of Hull, Ralph Vande Berg of Sioux Center, and four sisters, Mrs. G.A. Van Roekel of Sioux Center, Mrs. Jake Gorzeman of Hull, Mrs. John De Roos of Rock Rapids, and Mrs. Andrew De Roos of California. One sister, Mrs. Hannes Rozeboom of Sioux Center preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon April 20, 1944 at 12:30 at the home and at one o'clock at the First Reformed Church with Rev. L.A. Brunsting officiating. Burial will be made at the local cemetery.

Mr. Vande Berg was born on July 30, 1877 on a farm near Sioux Center and was a lifelong citizen of this community. He had reached the age of 67 years.
