Charles "Chuck" Stienstra, 72, of Orange City died Saturday, November 15, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services were at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Jeff Sajdak and the Rev. Paul Bakker officiating. Burial was at West Lawn Cemetery.

Stienstra was born November 10, 1925, in Hull, the son of Peter and Jessie (Kroese) Stienstra. He was raised in Hull and graduated from Hull High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Jeanette Dykstra on June 10, 1948, in Hull. The couple lived in Hull where they operated Stienstra Consruction. In 1986, they moved to Holland, Michigan and in 1994 they moved to Orange City. He entered Long-Term-Care Facility at the Orange City Municipal Hospital early in 1997.

He was a member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church and the American Legion Wegman-Koele Post in Hull. He served as an elder and deacon on the consistory of the Hope Christian Reformed Church in Hull, on the Hull Christian School board of directors, the Hull city council and the Hull Planning and Zoning Commission.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters and their husbands, Donna and Tom Skrikwerda of Kensington, Maryland, Jeri and Bob Vander Vegte of Bloomington, MN., Rachel and Wayne Kosters of Eden Prairie, MN. and Rebecca and Berry Wassink of Holland, Michigan; two sons and their wives, Pete and Aletha of Hull, and Steve and Pam of Orange City; 12 grandchildren; four brothers, Ivan of Spencer, Gerald of Redlands, California, Peter Jr. of Parker, Arizona, and Jim of Tehachapl, California; and a sister, Helena Whitehurst, of Redlands, California
