Funeral services for John Schneider, 58, who died as a result of a heart ailment at the Hawarden Hospital Wednesday of last week were held at 2 o’clock Saturday in the Trinity Lutheran Church here. Rev. Paul Friedrich of Ireton officiated with burial in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of Barnard Funeral Home.

The choir sang “Be Still My Soul” and “Rock of Ages” with Miss Janet Heuer as accompanist. Casket bearers were Wilbur Dixon, Harold Johnson, Harold Rossiek, Herbert Frerichs, and John Miniets and Alfred Falk.

Mr. Schneider was born on a farm near Hawarden September 22, 1904, a son of George and Caroline Beldenow Schneider. He spent his entire life on farms in the Hudson and Hawarden communities.

He was baptized into the Lutheran faith June 4, 1905 and was confirmed as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church here March 28, 1920.

On December 2, 1925, he married Nora Miller of Coleridge, Nebraska, to which union eight children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, George, and two daughters, Carolyn Marie and one stillborn.

Survivors include the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Earl Oetken of Akron, Mrs. Arlo Kircher of Hawarden, and Mrs. Donald Van Egdom of Sioux Center; three sons, Donald and Wendell, both of Akron, and Jerald at home; two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Peters and Mrs. Caroline Christensen, both of Hawarden; a brother, Carl of Hawarden, and 15 grandchildren.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral included Lester Schneider of Sioux Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Peters of Onawa, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Sullivan of Concord, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meier, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Meier, Mr. and Mrs. William Rathgeber and John Frerichs, all of Coleridge, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lutt of Wayne, Nebraska, Laverle Miller and Daryl Miller of Nebraska, Kenneth Miller of Sioux City, Gene Miller of Hartington, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hartung of South Sioux City and Lyle Schneider of Parker, South Dakota.
