Dick Van Zee was born on a farm near Middleburg on May 11, 1891. On December 26, 1913 he was united in marriage to Sarah Te Paske at Orange City. To this union seven children were born; Elizabeth (Mrs. John Skoff) of Baldwin, Iowa; Arta (Mrs. Carl Behrens) of Waltham, Minnesota; Edward of Cyrus, Minnesota; Henry of Browerville, Minnesota; Richard of Orange City; Ervin at home; and Sylvester of Evansville, Indiana.

Dick Van Zee died suddenly Tuesday May 4, at the sales barn in Sheldon. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. There are 16 grandchildren. Two sisters and I brother, 1 grandchild preceded him in death.

Dick Van Zee was well known in this vicinity and leaves behind many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on May 7, at the Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleburg with Rev. Ellsworth Dykstra officiating. Pall bearers were Abe Van Roekel, Raymond Lubbers, Alvin Van Zee, Richard Van Zee, Russell Te Paske, and A.H. Van Zee.

Arrangements were by Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
