Kenen Ray Van Wyhe, 21, of rural Hawarden was pronounced dead upon arrival on Tuesday, October 29, at Hawarden Community Hospital of injuries suffered in a bicycle-car accident west of Craig.

Services were Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton with Rev. Perry Schefelker officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton.

Van Wyhe was born on August 25, 1975, in Akron. He graduated from West Sioux High School in 1993. He then worked at Valley View Feedlot and was currently employed at the Russell Schmidt farm near Craig.

He was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Paul's Luthern Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming and all types of animals.

Survivors include his father, Kenney Van Wyhe and his wife, Mary of rural Ireton; his mother, Mary Frances Powers and her husband Jim Powers, of Grove, Oklahoma; his fiancée, Stacie Evans of Sioux Center; his brothers, Kent Van Wyhe and his wife Michelle, of Canton, S.D., Patrick Van Wyhe and his wife Cami, of Canton, Jeremy Van Wyhe and his friend Melissa Carlson, of Sioux Falls, James Ansel of Wilson, North Carolina, Dan Ansel and his wife Teresa, of Edgerton, Kansas, Wesley Crain and his wife, Tonya, of Turkey; his sisters and their husbands, Lynn Racine Boyer and Mike of Greenwood, Indiana; Renae Hilton and Kent of Gardner, Kansas, and Franette Abercrombie and Church of Lakeland, Florida; his grandparents, John and Fern Van Wyhe of Ireton; his step-grandparents, Ray and Bernice Eilts of Hawarden; uncles; aunts; nephews; and nieces.

He was preceded in death by an uncle, Glen R. Van Wyhe, and his grandparents, Phyllis and Lawrence Ostermyer.
