Mrs. Nelvina Bomgaars, age 70, of Hull, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at her residence.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, August 21, 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Verlyn Boone will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. on Monday, with the family present from 6-8, at the Oolman Funeral Home.

Nelvina was born on September 8, 1936, in rural Maurice, the daughter of Clarence and Johanna W.(Kleene) De Vos. As a child her family moved to Hull, where she graduated from the public school.

On October 1, 1953 she married Joe Jr. Bomgaars in Hull. They farmed around Hull until 1989, when they moved to Hull.

Mrs. Bomgaars was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she taught the 3 year-old Sunday School class for many years and belonged to a circle. She enjoyed assembling puzzles, crocheting, camping, fishing, and traveling. She also liked attending her grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Jr: three children and their spouses, Joel and Lori Bomgaars of Chandler, Arizona; Wanda and Mike Harmsen; of Rock Valley; and Calvin and Marcie Bomgaars of Hull; eight grandchildren, J.D. Bomgaars, and his wife, Alana, Nicole Bomgaars; Micah Harmsen; Nathan Harmsen and his wife Erica; Daniel Harmsen; Jonathan Harmsen; Jared Bomgaars; and Molly Bomgaars; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Madison, Michaela, Rope and Colby; a brother and his wife, Cornie and Marie De Vos of Michigan; and three sisters, Elizabeth Brunsting, of Hull; Wilmina, and her husband, Andrew Oostra, of Rock Valley; and Clarice and her husband, John Kooima, of Hull.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
