Gertrude Van Den Top, age 86. Of Rock Valley, IA, died Tuesday, December l0, 1996 al the Valley Manor at Rock Valley, IA. Funeral services were Friday at the Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley. Rev.John den Hoed officiated. Burial was in the Richland Cemetery at Inwood, I A.

Gertrude was born July 14, 1910 at Hudson SD. She was the daughter of William and Johanna (Eggink) Burggraaf. She married Adrian Buitendyk In February of 1911 at Nashua, IA.

Together they lived near Inwood where they first farmed and later Adrian owned and operated the Buitendyk Brother's Trucking at Inwood. Adrian died in a car-train accident at Inwood March 9, 1946.

Gertrude married Gilbert Van Den Top August 10,1960 at Inwood, IA. Together they lived at Rock Valley. Gilbert died December 8, 1977. Gertrude moved to the Valley Manor al Rock Valley in April of 1989.

Surviving relatives include one son and his wife, Adrian and Arlene Buitendyk of Sioux Falls, SD; one daughter, Nellie Detmers of Canton, SD; two brothers, Arie Burggraaf of Rock Rapids, IA, John Burggraaf of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her two husbands. Adrian and Gilbert; four brothers, Tony, Pete, John, and infant John; three sisters, Kalie Van Middendorp, Elizabeth Ver Meer, and Minnie Van Den Top.
