Hein Kosters Drops Dead

When Neal Mouw of Sioux Center went home to his dinner this Friday noon, children coming from school told him that Hein Kosters was lying in the mud in the alley back of the Kosters home. Mr. Mouw hurried to the spot and found that Mr. Kosters had gotten up and was leaning up against a fence post. Mr. Kosters had just taken his horse to the pasture and Mr. Mouw concluded the horse had kicked him. When Mr. Mouw asked Mr. Kosters if he was hurt he answered in Dutch, "No, the coffee was so strong." Mr. Kosters was carried into the house and he died twenty minutes later. Mrs. Kosters was questioned about the coffee and she told that she also had noticed that the coffee was unusually strong and she had added water to hers. The doctors are of the opinion that it is a case of poisoning and Coroner Gleysteen was notified who at this writing is making investigations. Deceased was 61 years of age and is survived by his widow and seven children. He was born in the Netherlands and came to Sioux county in 1872. He retired from the farm some years ago and made his home in Sioux Center. He leaves considerable property.

"Last Monday brought a large concourse of people to our town. Two sad funerals were in our midst. The one of Hein Kosters, who died so suddenly and so mysteriously, was buried from the Second Reformed church. He was well known and had many relatives. He had grown up with the county and leaves an amount of valuable property. The other was Mrs. Joe Wiersma, known as Margaret Kammerman......"
