Peter Hoogland, 89, of Sioux Center, IA died Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital in Sioux Center.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Friday at 10:00AM at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00AM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. John Lee officiating.

Mid-America Reformed SeminaryPeter Hoogland was born December 30, 1924 to Jake and Grace (VandeKamp) Hoogland in Middleburg, Iowa. He attended country school through the eighth grade.
Peter married Gwendolyn Muilenburg, on June 1, 1948, in Orange City. The couple farmed by Sioux Center, Iowa and Maurice, Iowa for 45 years before retiring to Sioux Center in 1993. In 2012, they became residents of the Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. Gwendolyn passed away on April 16, 2013.
Peter and Gwendolyn were members of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
He enjoyed farming with his sons, specializing in selling Spotted Poland China breeding stock and dairy. He served as a deacon at Bethel CRC and as a board member of Unity Christian High School. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.
He loved the Lord and his faith was most important to him.
Peter is survived by three children and their spouses: Marvin and Judy Hoogland of Maurice; Glenda and Jan Altena of Orange City; Peter Junior and Kim Hoogland of Maurice; a daughter-in-law, Mary Hoogland of Maurice; honorary son, Pastor Byung Sam Yoon and his wife, Mie Ock of San Jose, California; 22 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Clara Hoogland of Sioux Center and numerous nieces and nephews.
Peter is preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn; a son James Hoogland; two great-grandchildren: Kendra Hulshof; Noah Bakker; his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and John Nibbelink and Margaret and Roy Rens; a brother, Alfred Hoogland and brother and sister-in-law, Gerrit and Henrietta Hoogland.
