From the Thursday, March 21, 1935 Hawarden Independent:

Mrs. Mary L. Terrill, a resident of Hawarden for more than forty years, passed away at 10 o'clock Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Deerschild at Iroquois, S. D. Mrs. Terrill had been in poor health for some time and last fall went to make hex home with her daughter in order that she might receive the best of care and during the past winter had been poorly due to her advanced age.

Mrs. Terrill would have been 89 years old had she lived until March 31st. She came to Calliope over forty years ago and made this her home continuously since that time until last fall when she went to live with her daughter. She was left a widow at an early age and it fell to her lot to raise six children. She enjoyed good health until about four years ago when she suffered a broken hip but even after that she was able to get about and was often seen working in her garden even though she had to use crutches. When her daughter, Mrs. Joe Bryson, passed away about twelve years ago leaving a number of children, one an infant daughter, Mrs. Terrill took the youngest and two of the other children into her own home and looked after their needs. She was a favorite among children in her neighborhood as she possessed a cheery disposition and always found time to tell them a story or join them in their play. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ella Deerschild of Iroquois, S. D.; Mrs. Hulda Myers of Huron, S. D.; and Mrs. Waller Pocklington of Ronneby, Minn.; and two sons, Harry, who lives in Canada and Milton of Sawlway, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at Iroquois and interment will be made there.

Poster's note: According to family trees on line, the 1925 Iowa census and various newspaper mentions, Mary Terrill (a/k/a Mary Terrell) was born Mary Lucinda Chapel, daughter of Mary (Conine) and Ebenezer Chapel. She married William Reid Terrell in 1865. They pioneered in Iroquois, South Dakota where he passed away in 1894.
