VANDERTUIG, DONKERSLOOT, VAN GORP

Peter Vander Tuig 85, of Orange City died Tuesday in a hospital in Orange City after a brief illness.

Services were held Thursday in the First Reformed Church in Orange City, the Rev. Cecil Martens and the Rev. Frank Snutttjer officiated. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Primghar under the direction of Van Gelder Funeral Home.

Mr. Vander Tuig was born April 27,1897 at Maurice.

He married Gertrude Donkersloot Feb. 3, 1918 at Sheldon. He farmed in the Primghar area, moving into Primghar in 1951. She died in July of 1971. He married Artie Van Gorp, April 11, 1975, at Orange City. He was a livestock dealer for many years. Since last September he has lived at the Heritage House in Orange City, prior to that in the Pioneer Home in Orange City.

Mr. Vander Tuig was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City and a charter member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mitchel and Richard, both of Primghar; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Sadie) Hilbrands of Nooksack, Wa. and Mrs. Don (Gladys) Hylarides of Hudsonville, Mich.; two step daughters, Mrs Marion (Dorthena) Vander Laan of Orange City and Mrs Larry (Vera) Leu of Sioux Falls. S.D.; two stepsons, Darwyn Van Gorp of Liberty, Missouri and William Van Gorp of Orange City.
