Life Legacy

Lois Arlene Visser returned to her Heavenly home on September 12, 2013, in Edgewood, New Mexico, at the age of 76.

There will be a graveside service on Monday, September 16, at 10:00am, at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. The Rev. Kevin Yurk will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday, from 9:30am to 9:45am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Lois lived nearly the last five decades of her life in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she moved with her family in 1965.

She was born Lois Ten Haken in Hull on April 1, 1937, to Ada and Willis Ten Haken. She was raised on a farm with her siblings, Linda, Alan, amd Harold. Lois had a love for basketball growing up, and in her later years loved cheering on the New Mexico Lobos. Lois received an education and became a school teacher. She had a heart for special education and spent many years teaching children with special needs. For years, she also worked at Valley Livestock Auction. After retirement, Lois’ favorite hobbies were making baby blankets and cuddling sick babies at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque.

As a mother and grandmother, Lois was a very spiritual woman. She always made it a priority to read The Bible with her grandchildren, teaching them about the love of Jesus Christ. She was very involved at her church, Northdale Baptist Church in Albuquerque.

Lois is survived by her children: Marlo and Marie Visser, Carla and Johnny Malone, and Ann Visser; her siblings: Linda and Bernie Mulder and Arnetta and Melvin Van Peursem; her grandchildren: Cynthia and Ernest Marquez, Jodi and Michael Tavenner, Stephanie and Bradley Cook, and Kevin Malone; her great-grandchildren: Tanner and Tyler Marquez and Ashley, Jolie, and Tiffany Tavenner; and many nephews and nieces.

Lois is predeceased by her parents and her brothers.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Rolla Scannell for her the friendship and sisterhood she bestowed upon Lois.

A funeral service was held at the Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood on Saturday, September 14.

In lieu of flowers, Lois’ family asks that donations be made to Care Net Pregnancy Center, 809 First Street, Suite A, Moriarty, New Mexico 87035
