Theodore Goergen living three miles northeast of here died on Monday morning at half past five o'clock of apoplexy at the advanced age of seventy five years. Last Saturday afternoon while walking about in the farm yard he suffered from a stroke caused by the bursting of a blood vessel in the brain from which he never rallied. Deceased was born in Germany December twenty fifth 1830.

In 1870 he was married to Elizabeth Larosh who survives him. Two years later they emigrated to America and settled at Caledonia MN. In 1884 they moved to Plymouth county and in 1889 to their present location in O'Brien county. Their wedded life was blessed with eleven children of whom eight are still living namely Frank, Dominick, Michel, Mathias, Elizabeth, Mrs. B. Hoefler, Jacob, Veronika and Melinda.

The funeral services were held in St. Joseph's church Wednesday morning at nine thirty Rev. Geling of Hospers officiating. The pall bearers were Max Thorman, John Schwebach, Henry Weber, Nic Malget, George Fedsheim, Jacob Diederich. Interment was made in St. Joseph's cemetery.

A large number of old settlers from this vicinity and Hospers were present to pay their last respects to their departed friend and neighbor. Frank Schutz of Bancroft and Ferd Schutz of Sheldon were among the mourners.
