Jeanette Wesselink, 87, of Rock Valley died Friday, August 17, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Burial was 1 p.m. in Carmel cemetery.

Mrs. Wesselink was born on the homestead north of Carmel, the daughter of Jake and Minnie (Oostenink) De Boer, She married John Wesselink on February 1, 1940, at the De Boer homestead north of Carmel.Together they farmed near Sioux Center until moving to Rock Valley in 1954, where they purchased and operated the Valley Lockers. She also worked at the Rock Valley Public School, helping with the custodial work and assisting in serving the noon meals. She was active in the First Reformed Church's Fellowship Club, choir and teaching Sunday school.

The couple moved to the Valley Manor on April 19, 2004. He died on September 26, 2006.

Survivors are a son, David (Doris) Wesselink of Rock Valley; daughters, Audrey (Bill) Vermilyea of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Karen (Dennis) Vander Sluis of Le Mars; a daughter-in-law, Mary (Terry) Dippold of Urbandale; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; sisters, Dena Blankespoor of Hull and Coba (Martin) Raak of Orange City; and a brother-in-law, Al Moss of Luverne, Minnesota.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Wesselink; a stillborn daughter, MaryAnn; brothers, Dick, John, Jerry and Frank De Boer; and sisters, Gertrude Vander Vliet, Mina Bartels, Geneva Huisman and Henrietta Moss.
