Mrs. Henry (Emilie) Winterfeld passed away at Hawarden nursing home on July 16, 1945 at the age of 73 years. She had suffered a stroke about 9 years ago and never fully recovered.

Mrs. Winterfeld was born on November 14, 1872 at Littleport, Iowa. On April 2, 1893, she was united in marriage to Mr. Henry F. Winterfeld at Plymouth county and they then made their home on their farm west of Sioux Center where they lived since tht time. The family celebrated the golden wedding anniversary of their parents in 1943. She was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church for 52 years. She was an honorary member of the Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her nine children, Mrs. August Schlumbohm of Hawarden, Mrs. Ernest Claussen of Larchwood, Louis Winterfeld of Larchwood, Mrs. Frank Schlumbohm of Hawarden, Henry Winterfeld of Oakland, Calif. Lawrence Winterfeld of Chicago; Rudolph Winterfeld of Gerritsen, S.D.. Marvin Winterfeld of Sherman, S.D., and Elmer Winterfeld of Sioux Center. Also 14 granchildren, one grandson, Marvin Claussen is in the service. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away on March 17, 1945.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, July 19, 1945 at 1:30 o'clock at the home and at 2:00 o'clock at the Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Hugo Beyer officiating. Burial took place at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery and acting as pall bearers were Rudolph, Marvin, Elmer, Louis, Lawrence and Harold Winterfeld. Mrs. Ed Miller and Mrs. Charlie Moeller were flower bearers.
