Orange City - This community was greatly shocked to hear that Mrs. Jake T. De Haan (Hattie Reekers) passed away at home south of O.C. Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 5:15 o'clock in the morning after suffering a stroke Monday evening, Sept. 1.

Mrs. De Haan was born July 20, 1897 on a farm southwest of O.C. On March 31, 1920 she was united in marriage to Jake T. De Haan who now survives with their two children, Alwin Dale and Marlys Jean, and also Phyllis, wife of Alwin Dale. She is also survived by three sisters and 1 brother; Jeanette (Mrs. Abe. Van Peursem); Marie (Mrs. Jake Oolman); Arta (Mrs. Theo. Heemstra) and John J. Reekers. Preceding her in death are two sisters; Gertrude (Mrs. A. J. TerHorst) and Jennie (Mrs. Jno. A. Van Peursem) and also 1 brother, Arie J. Reekers.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at the home, and at 2 o'clock in the First Reformed Church with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made in O.C. cemetery.
